there was a girl who was lonely, it seemed;
she locked herself up in her room and dreamed
seeing new places, imagining friends,
living in new worlds inside her head
her mother walked in, called "dinnertiiime!"
the girl cried "out out! don't step in my world, its mine!"
mother said, "oh but dear won't you please let me in?"
her daughter said nothing, just grinned a sly grin.
Mother sighed and closed the door,
the girl could dream and dream once more
this time with her eyes closed she touched the moon,
holding it high to light up the gloom.
She imagined the moon with so much of her might,
she was suddenly there, and not without fright
Mother walked in, one last time to call,
but her little girl was not there at all.
